All the pictures for the weekend are now on line. As usual, I was biased by my family's skiing and the number of photos of them shows it. As in the past, I can provide photographs printed on a professorial Kodak printer, or provide a disk with the selected photos on them. All the pictures have a time and date stamp on them and are in the sequence that they were taken. The photo file name is also watermarked on the photo. I can still print the photo quality pictures, but we are leaving for Michigan right after the next tourniment at Tug Lake, so generally, the disk my be a good option.

Mint Lake - July 23rd - July 25th

I was planning on being at the USA tourniment in the Medford area over the 9th to the 11th, but due to air conditioner issues and 100 degree weather we didn't make it, so this is our first tourniment of the 2010 season.

The 2010 season has arived and it looks like we will miss the last tourniment of the year again as we will be heading back to Michigan again before the beginning of September. We are looking forward to seeing each and every one of you again this year.

I unfortunately had a bad adjustment on some of the wakeboarders, and they are about 3 F stops too dark. They can be lightened up some with software, and if there is one that you really want, let me know and I will see what I can do.

INT Mint Lake June 27th & 28th

We arrived Friday afternoon and got everything set up. Barb had to go to Jefferson for some training, so I stayed and took pictures. All pictures for Saturday are on line, but I didn't separate them into individuals, but left a separator picture of the trees between each participant.

INT Stops 7 & 8

This was the last weekend before we left for an extended working vacation in Michigan, so the photos taken on Sunday's Stop 8 were limited. For Stop 7, I managed to photograph all the morning ski runs, and since I rode in the boat in the afternoon, I only photographed those who rode behind the Supra.

Since we left for Michigan on Wednesday, the photos are going to be a little bit latter than normal getting posted. Just check back in a few days.

Sabrina USA Tournament - Sunday August 10th

Over 1300 photos taken on Sunday should be on line by Wednesday night late. I was a little more confused, as I hadn't seen a starting order and several of Saturdays competitors didn't compete, plus a couple that hadn't did. I captured 32 skiers and I think that I got every one. I was a little tired, as I was experimenting a bit. I shot the outbound from the lakes edge out from the 3 ball heading North, and the inbound from the top of the ladder out from the 4 ball heading South, so I was up and down the ladder over 50 times, plus scurrying between spots on the ground.

After you look at the pictures, if you could take the Sunday poll about which ones you liked best, I would appreciate it. Just trying to find out what is the best way to go for next year. Keep in mind that the morning sun gave better facial looks when skiing back. I'm looking more for composition thoughts.

Again, take a look as the 32 skiers slide show, and any help with names that I might have wrong or miss spelled would be appreciated. Just E-mail me.

Sabrina USA Tournament - Saturday August 9th

Today I photographer 36 skiers and took just short of 2000 photos. I photographed about half of the pictures in the portrait mode. After you take a look at the pictures, if you could mark Saturdays poll, I would appreciate it. The pictures should be on line at this site by August 13th.

The slide show is of each skier in the order that I photographed them. I believe that I have the right name on each of them. If not, e-mail me and let me know, and I will correct it. I took pictures of 36 skiers and don't think that I missed any one.

I am trying to get better at recognizing who each person is, but don't have it down yet. If you e-mail me with the correct information for your series of pictures, I will get them changed.
Due to some unforeseen circumstances I only got about half of the skiers on Saturday, but did manage to get every one on Sunday. Due to the lateness, and needing to get on the road, I did not get any pictures of the afternoon wake-knee-skate boarders. If all goes well I will try and concentrate on the afternoon at stops 7 & 8 in a couple of weeks.

Barb and I arrived a little before three PM on Friday afternoon, but of course, Mike Johnson had beat us there. Will have to try harder the next time. We got to talking to Bill and Kathy Strom about Barb's secret desire to compete and not tell Karen that she was going to. At this point, Barb had not yet managed to stay up very long on one ski, but Bill assured her it was a piece of cake, and before we knew it we were on the lake trying to get Barb up. After only a few attempts, Barb was up and flying, and now the decision had to be made if she really wanted to compete on Saturday morning.

The rest is history, and with the help of Mike Johnson, and the whole INT crew, Barb followed Karen on Saturday morning, and Karen didn't have a clue. In fact she headed strait for the Coach after her run, and Mike had to page her that she was needed on the docks, so that we could get some pictures of her expression. It was a busy weekend for me taking pictures. The count was a bit over 5000, with over 2000 and Saturday and 3000 on Sunday. I'm using a different camera this year, and it was really the first time that I got to really put it to the test. I must say that I was very happy with the results. The camera I got was a 3 year old Canon 1D Mark II, which is the professional sports model. It has 3 record modes. One shot, low speed (three frames per second), and high speed (8.5 frames per second. Low speed is ideal for skiers and high speed is awesome for wake boarders. The buffer is over 40 pictures, which gives me 5 seconds of continuous shooting. Of course, if you hold it down for that long, then you lose the buffer and have to wait to shoot, but by taking short bursts, it was awesome.

I got most of the skiers on Saturday AM, and all the wake boarders in one boat in the PM. Then On Sunday I got all the skiers up to the point that I missed on Saturday, and all the wake boarders in the other boat in the PM. In all, I think that I got at least one sequence of each person that competed.

I do not know all the names of the competitors, and have used some generic terms to describe them. If you will e-mail me with the generic term and the real name, I will make the necessary corrections on the album descriptions. At this point, (Monday PM), I have all of Saturdays pictures posted. Hopefully by the time you read this, Sundays will also be on line.

I will be selling pictures and CD's again this year, so check out the side bars to see what specials I might be running.

Stop 2 - June 14th 2008 - Mint Lake

With Karen's arrival late last night, it was time to get up early and get signed up for a practice run. All three, Karen, Christopher and Jessica managed to get signed up for one, and all had a successful run.

Since Jessica had one more dance recital, Karen managed to get the scheduled ski time slots changed a little so that they could be on the road by 10 AM to get back to Corvallis for a 2:30 performance.

Being Fathers Day weekend, we had been invited over to Bill's parents house for a BBQ, so by 11 AM, we had the coach packed up and ready to leave. As a result, I did not take a lot of pictures this weekend. Those interested in seeing them can click on this link. They are also posted on my regular spot, and I would be interested in comments on which site you like better, or which is easier to navigate around in.

Stop 1 June 14th - Mint Lake

Today was a big day. The start of the INT 2008 water skiing season. But even bigger was the graduation of Karen, from Western Oregon University. Nothing like a proud father, but she did have a 4.0 GPA, and a Masters of Education degree.

We left Albany early with our coach, so that we could head directly to Mint Lake when the ceremonies were over. We had planned to park in Bi Mart's parking lot, where we could meet Karen, who had to be there by 10 AM for preliminaries. That way we could watch Christopher and Jessica. We actually arrived about 9 AM, so decided to check out other parking option. It turns out that the University had reserved parking for RVs right by the stadium, and we got a police escort to the front of the line. Just had to walk down the sidewalk and into the stands. How much better can it get than that? We just called Karen to tell her of our change of parking spots.

While Barb stayed in the coach to wait for Karen, I when into the stands to hold a spot under the roof, so that we would not have to sit in the sun. Somewhere around 10:30 Barb and the children showed up. Although Christopher and Jessica had planned on setting with us, they decided to go down onto the field and sit with their other Grandparents Pat and Jim. We did not get left out totally though, as Bill and his parents came and sat with us.

When the ceremonies were over, we headed to Mint Lake with Christopher, while Karen returned to Corvallis with Jessica. Jessica had a dance recital at 7:30 PM and their plans were to come to Mint Lake afterwards. We did not expect them till close to midnight, but as soon as Jessica was done with her dance, Karen picked her up and left, arriving shortly before 10 PM.

As it turned out we arrived at the lake just in time to enjoy the pot luck and rekindle friendships with friends that we had not seen for several months. If you would like to see some of Saturday nights pictures, click on this link.
